Why can't I add a fillet to this slightly curved edge?

I have these edges that won't fillet no matter the size or the edge/faces I select. I want to add a small fillet to smooth the transition between the spirally walls and the top but I haven't been able to...

The error is

"Error: The fillet/chamfer could not be created at the requested size. This might be occurring at the ends of the selected edges.
Try adjusting the size or using multiple separate operations. Check that the selected edge chain ends at a sensible position, and if not try selecting more edges."

Here's the f3d file so you can take a look. Attached is the .f3d file if you want to take a look.

Sorry for the component/body structure... I'm still a mess when it comes to organizing the objects and thank you for your help. 🙂

Hi @deses12 ,

I have tested the file and I can't seem to find the reason. I have also experienced lately some challenges with the Filet command. Maybe @jeff_strater or @TrippyLighting could help with that!?

Cheers / Ben

I'll have to send this off to the kernel guys to take a look.  I thought it was the adjacent thread geometry, but even getting rid of that, that fillet still fails.

Thanks @jeff_strater,
I thought I was losing my mind. I also had some issues with the Filet lately, maybe there is an actual problem with the Filet command. I look forward to hearing from the kernel guys.

Happy holidays my friend 👍

Cheers / Ben.

Hi Ben, thanks for the reply!

I've tried extruding a little bit of buffer between the thread and the pillars and it didn't make a difference.

@deses12, My guess is that there is an issue with the Filet command.
It's Xmas right now, so we will have to be patient until the begging of next year.

Oh wow, I'm glad this was forwarded to the appropriate team.

I too was having issues with the fillet command in other models but I though it was truly a problem with the complicated geometry of the model until I saw this "simple" edge.

Thank you @Beyondforce and @jeff_strater for the help!

This is a geometry problem.  when you examine the edges at either end where the fillet shold stop you can see there are 2 edges with a slicer of a face all packed into what looks like a single edge.

infact, looking at the edge a little higher up, the extra edge becomes more apparent.

multiple edges 2.jpg

The cause of the extra edge is the unfortunate use of the loft-

combined with sketches at each end that aren't properly defined.

multiple edges 4.jpg

Attached is an example of using sweep with a profile that ensures the cut will go through as a single slice.  doing this way allows the fillet to be defined.  but you will have to select every one of the 30 edges.  applying the fillet before the sweep makes the process easier.  that's what I did in this example.

the attached example only addresses the intimidate issue.  You are working much to hard and using a convoluted process to get to where you want to be.  the primary shape for each of these objects can be made with one sketch and one revolve.  then a thread feature for each location where threads are needed, and the sweep cuts and pattern I added.

And i highly suggest you turn off the auto project features in your preferences.

I've taken the liberty to accept @laughingcreek 's post as the solution.
