How do you create geometry for one part that is defined by the contact surface with other parts that have a predetermined design and movement path?

There's a postional modeling technique outlined in a youtube video below.

It's similar to the solution discussed in the below forum post.

You use the capture postions command (formerly known as snapshot) to record positional information in the timeline. At each step in the timeline you can create geometry or sketches, etc to create features/operations that do what you need. 

 

It would be really helpful to have a sample model or something in mind.
