Trouble with text inside a sketch

I'm Having trouble with the text generated in a sketch.  When I set the height of the text the text is significantly smaller than the text box that is generated. the text box measures the size I set in the text window but the text is about a 3rd smaller in height. Additionally I cannot reliably locate the text box using the dimensioning tool in the sketch. The text often changes its size and then my constaints just disapear. I figured this would work like it does in solidworks where I can create the text and locate it with dimensions. Am I missing someting?

I've been very unhappy with the Text capabilities in Sketch.  Here is my submission to the IdeaStation to get more functionality.

Here is an image that shows my problem with the text not being the same size as the text box. Is this how the text box should look? is there any way to make the top of the text box the same height as the text?sketch text.png

@owenhooker,

What you are experiencing with the dimensions and constraints disappearing when you change the text size is a bug, I have logged this with our team.  As far as your question about the text box size I would like to know more about the workflow you are looking for.  The text box is designed to be constrained by the lower left corner and the box size is to be defined by the text size.

Thank you,

Part of the problem with text height is caused by some of the extended characters being taller. In this picture I've selected 10mm as the height but the standard characters are only 7mm even the extended ones are only 9mm.

I hadnt thought about the special characters dictating the height of the text box but that seems to make more sence to me now.  As for constraining the textbox I was trying to use a midpoint on two text boxes so they would be centered over the top of each other.  I'm asuming that I will be able to do this after the bug is fixed? Any idea how soon the bug fix will be released?

@owenhooker,

You are correct that once the bug is fixed you will be able to constrain / align the two boxes together.  The team is exploring solutions and I will prioritize this as high priority.

Cheers,
