Thermal view in event simulation

I am currently trying to reproduce ballistic impacts on a steel plate as realistically as possible. However, this requires the formation of adiabatic shear bands. I am really not very acquainted with this concept, but from what I understand, a temperature view should enable me to see their formation, as they are linked to temperature behaviour. However, to make a ballistic impact, i need Fusion 360's event simulation, and I can't find an option to compute a thermal view (in the tab in the simulation settings where you can select what you want to see in the results, like velocity, acceleration, stress, strain, displacement...)

In other words, is there any way I can visualise temperature in event simulation?

Hi @2554428C

Event simulation does not calculate any heat transfer or temperatures.

Ok thank you for confirming.

Do you then happen to know if there is any other way to visualise adiabatic shear bands?

Hi,

I am not familiar with this phenomenon, so I do not know the answer for sure.

This is what Wikipedia says about Adiabatic shear band:

In physics, mechanics and engineering, an adiabatic shear band is one of the many mechanisms of failure that occur in metals and other materials that are deformed at a high rate in processes such as metal forming, machining and ballistic impact. Adiabatic shear bands are usually very narrow bands, typically 5-500 μm wide and consisting of highly sheared material.

Considering the bands are very narrow, you will not see any abnormal shear results unless the mesh size is smaller than the width of the band. Unless the size of the model is small, I have doubts that an analysis with such a small mesh is practical.
