I'm trying to simulate a 1m long tube with 4 axial slots, subjected to a torsional load. I would like to know the maximum torsional load before deformation. I have run a simulation which predicts a deflection of 1.7mm. To verify if this is correct I have taken a piece of steel tube the same as the model and loaded it in the same way. The actual deflection is 5mm. I wondering why there is such a large difference. Have I modelled it incorrectly?
