Some dimension text can't be moved - handle follows dimension line.

I am trying to document my design and want to add dimensions to my model.

The strange thing is that some dimension text (value) can be moved freely whereas other text elements seem to be locked to the dimension line. This means that if I try to move the text, the dimension line moves to the same horizontal position.

Looking at the example below, I have the dimension with value 47. If I try to move this text, the dimension line will also move.

Looking at the second example with the value 145 - I can move the text freely without moving the dimension line. Instead a line from the value 145 is drawn to the dimension line.

As can be seen the two dimensions with the value 5 are also free to move as I please.

How can I "unlock" the value 47 to be able to move it freely as well?

The only linear dimensions, in a Fusion 360 drawing which you can drag off on a leader, are chain dimensions.  You did not supply your model and drawing so I cannot tell the type of dimensions you are using.  Take a look at the screencast and see if this answers your question.

That's exactly my problem @jhackney1972  😊

I started the dimensions by hitting "D" and then continued as a chain.

But as far as I can tell - I can't start a dimension as a chain?

So this means that first value will always be "locked" to the dimension line - or can that be changed?

Thanks for the fine illustration (screen cast) !!!
