Slicer for Fusion 360 "Mesh could not be imported"

Anonymous

Greetings! the problem of importing files. If you import any (.stl or obj) file, an error occurs - "Mesh could not be imported". This happens on my two pc. (windows 7/64b). But on the laptop the program works stably (although it's less power). All visual c ++ and net framework libraries reinstalled. When importing using fusion 360 "File has failed to open on Slicer for Fusion 360, please try again", but on other computers these files are opened without problems.

really looking forward to your help.

I think we need to have a better understanding of what exact workflow you are following,.

I've worked with slicer only once, but it is my understanding that slicer creates meshes from solid bodies in Fusion 360.

Just to mention, I literally used Slicer for the past 5 months fine and then I updated my computer and I feel that it isn't letting me add any new STL or OBJ files.

I found the solution ! looking to the old slicer 123d make known issues :

in my file PATH there was a special character (french character !) :

"C:\Users\guill\Desktop\sculpture cp\modèles 3d\untitled.obj"

I corrected it by removing the "è" and it works again !

Hey thanks for quick reply! When I choose to look at the path it only shows me the folders that it has been placed in. It doesn't show me the file type ( OBJ ) for example. how do I see the full path and edit it. ?
 Thanks for your help

Olá, sou brasileiro;

Hello guys,

I found out this solution on this page https://parameterizing.wordpress.com/2016/11/28/import-failed-123d-make/ and it worked fine for me!

Basically what you have to do is just save your file on a pen drive and open the file from the pen.

OMG so simple I didn't noticed it... I'm french too and yeah accents in your files names block Slicer to access to the right path I guess.

Thank you Guillaume !!! Merci ! 😄

still not work for me. I put it in D:\ or in my USB disk, no non-English letters in the folder names at all. but the problem remains. this makes this software can only work with the built-in models.

why this?

Hey instantlx,

Slicer is currently in maintenance. Here's a post with more information on that, it might also have some helpful tips: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/slicer-for-fusion-360-topics/td-p/8460043

It crashes even if you use _underscore in the filename, try to use only letters and digits.
