Simulation: Total force from Contact Surface

Hello All,

I would like to know the force being applied at a contact surface.

The program can show me the pressure plot, it would be great if i could pull out the total force on this surface.  Is there a way to do this? Its the Normal Force I want, not coordinate.

Alternatively if I can get an output of all the element pressures and element areas in a CSV (or similar) I can calculate it myself.

Cheers,

Tony

Your sketch is not fully defined?

(No dimensions, and when I add the missing dimensions the geometry size does not make logical sense?)

I did not see an analysis set up in the file?

No forces applied?

No interference fit?

Is this a school assignment?

Do  you have additional information?

Where in my question did I ask about my sketch? or my design? Its something I would call a "dummy model", something I made quickly to try out an idea, something that has zero IP in it so I can share it on a public forum. No, I did not fully define, or even semi-define the sketch because it doesn't need it. It would be a waste of time, much like me writing this reply.

You don't actually need the model to answer the question, but I attached it because its the first thing that gets asked on here regardless of what has been asked.

I have attached another model that should have the sim data but some reason doesn't have the sim results, it appears the only way to share results is through sharing the model in my workspace, which is useful. FYI, the sim model is also pretty poor, but it solves and gives a pressure result between bodies so it gets you to a point where you could, if you wanted, answer my original question. Or you could try to insult me more, you know what ever you feel like.

Thanks for the belittling comments, really helped me get to an answer.

Hi Tony,

You cannot get the total contact force from Fusion. The best that you can do is eyeball the average contact pressure times the area.

Inventor Nastran provides more access to the results, so that would be an alternative if you have Inventor and the Inventor Nastran add-in. (Inventor and Inventor Nastran are part of the Product Design & Manufacturing collection if you own that.)

If not provided, indicate the version of Inventor Nastran you are using.
If the issue is related to a model, attach the model! See What files to provide when the model is needed.

Thank you John,

Unfortunately I don't have access to any other FE software, I'm sure I could dig out some open source from somewhere that is capable of doing what I want.
