Centering Features

I am posting two different examples as I think they may have similar methods. I frequently need to center various objects--a screw hole to a rectangular face or one rectangular face to another in these examples.

Up until now I have used various cumbersome combinations of diagonal lines, dimensions, moving about to the origin, points etc---but I am assuming I am doing too much work here.

In the first case I simply want to click the screw-hole, click the face that it sits on and have it centered.

in the 2nd case I simply want to click the base of the short structure and click the long face that is sits on to center it.

Is this something that can be done?

Thanks

Fritz

1- regarding the first case-how to you highlight the hole and get it to move.

2-how to you get the centerpoint to appear on the face of the box?

THanks

Thanks Guenther.

Apparently I have to use the timeline to edit the hole. I was trying right clicks etc and they didn't work.

I am still uncertain of how to put the center-point on to the rectangle so that I can move the hole to it- I have been using something like this:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How...

It makes sense but is cumbersome. Is there a way to use something like the "point" command to circumscribe the rectangle and then place a center point?

Thanks

Hi,

I wonder why I offer pictures here if they are not sufficiently considered.
If you look at the GIF for the positioning of the hole in my post #2, you should see a red arrow pointing to the center

To answer your question--the Red Arrow was one of the first things I saw when you sent your original post. In pantomime it indicates that there is a center-point, but it does not say HOW it got there. The latter is my question.

Looking at my own drawing that I sent at the start of the post, it seems to appear when I move about the hole on the edit sketch screen.  But this is not always the case. Look at the screen cast I sent with this post.

So the question regarding this is: One does not always get a center point when they enter edit mode--how do I initiate this?

Thanks for your continued help

Thank you CADWhisperer.  I finally sat down with a cup of coffee and watched your video. You must have spent a lot of time and it was greatly appreciated. It was very helpful and you answered a slew of questions about centering objects and using the browsers and timelines. It was very clear and I liked the fact that you mentioned alternative methods as this often is a source of confusion.

Regarding my "missing center dot" I see that it appears with features on a solid but not on a sketch.

Thank you for your time again!
