selecting axis Y to move axis Z

I have noticed that in order to move a given part in the Z axis, I must select the Y axis in the move function.  Can someone explain why this is?  I have attached two screen shots, the first is a measurement of the Z axis, the second is the Z axis being moved using the Y Distance field of the Move function.

Thanks,

Thanks Daniel!

I think that the feature must be broken on the Mac version of Fusion b/c that did not seem to work.  Do you know where I should post the broken feature?

It is moving in the BLUE axis, which is Z, and showing the movement in the Y Distance box.  I never mentioned the direction "UP".

Up has NOTHING to do with it.  Up is relative and can be changed to the viewers needs, and has nothing to do with this discussion.

Blue=Z, it's set, there is no changing it.

That being said,

A movement on the Blue,Z axis  is being displayed in the Y Distance box.

it can only show movement in its realitve coradantion in the screen cast i did it moved from where it was in the direction it was orientated it was set to y up  but up direction was x then i flipted it, so a move in a up direction was Z axis left to right was x back to fount was y. rule of thum

so you can have it move how ever you wont they may fix it one day so the move orientation is the same as the colours for the triad.

thats the point the colour orintation and the move orintation does not match so you have to work around it

its a pain I know, I redo the orintation to how I like it when I start a new drawing, also it makes fac all of a diffrences when it comes to the cad side becouse you can set that to how you wont

No matter how many different ways it's being justified, it's still wrong.

Thank you for the feedback. I have to agree that there does seems to be room for improvement here.

I've created a report for development to investigate this issue further (Reference ID FUS-16649).

I will circle back here with any updates.

Thanks,

Has there been resolution on this?  I just got it and it's driving me crazy.

Thank you for the nudge.

Currently, the default position of the triad is based component instance coordinate system. For example, If the component instance was rotated about the Z-axis by 900, then triad would be placed as below.

rot z.jpg

Else the triad X,Y,Z would align with the world XYZ. If you use the re-orient functionality to orient the triad axis, then you may get the triad to align with the world coordinate system.

Does this help?

Thanks,

Move functionality is unusable.
