Project to surface not working

Greetings!

I've been struggling with project to surface for days now.

I've followed this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUk3sHRYjQM to the letter and still get errors.

Regardless of what I project (text, shapes etc) I get the following error which google search turns up no results for.

Error: Failed to project the selected geometries. Please check that the selected geometries and faces are sensible, or try changing project type.

This happens regardless of the shape/text I'm projecting and the surface Im projecting onto  (cylinder, sphere, box, etc,)

It looks like the problem is using the window selection you are selecting points as well as curves, for some reason this gives an error with Along Vector. Try selecting the curves one at a time, or change your selection filters so only curves are selectable.

Edit, try this setting for your filters.

Thanks for the quick response!

I still get the same error.

Below is a screenshot showing the offset plane with the text to be projected.

I get the same error whether I'm using closest point or along a vector.

Can you attach the full size image please, or better still can you export the part as an f3d file and attach to this thread.

I don't think you can select text, you'll need to explode to curves first.

After exploding project works.

Thanks for the help. Now to just figure out how to turn that bunch of Purple lines into an embossed Logo.....

For what it's worth, I found this method to be much more helpful for debossing/embossing on simple curved surface. .

I was able to make this in about 5 minutes without pulling my hair out.

Rather than project try extruding the text as a new body the use the extruded text to split the face. No need to explode the test first.

After splitting you'll have something like this.

Then use Press Pull to extrude, you might need to do one or two letters at time as it can take a while with more.
