problems with push pull

I am attempting to make a stencil for the crankbait. I attempted to thicken it with the push pull tool to .2". I then intended to use "combine" then select crankbait (1) and as the tool select crankbait (1) (1) and set to cut. I was hoping to be left with what would basically be a .2" thick empty shell that would fit around the crankbait. Of course at some point I will have to split the body to actually open and close the stencil. Every time I attempt to use "push pull" and enter a value, I receive an error message. I have tried to remove fillets that I used to have at the front and back and have tried many values but I cant seem to figure this out. I have had no formal training on any Autodesk products but have had some experience several years ago and am trying to relearn what I knew. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

STL files are not a totally ideal format to use with Press Pull tool.

A crankbait is a type of fishing lure. They have a bill that causes them to dive down in the water and are painted colors and patterns that mimic bait fish. The stencil is just to make painting those patterns quicker. Dave, is there a better way to do it than the push pull tool? If not should I change the file type and if so how?

Remodel the body as a fusion solid, then you can emboss on Flat Cylindrical and conical Surface,  otherwise Sweep details depending how you make it.

use the STL body as Guide, make Section Sketches, and Fit curves to Section, are the Mesh tools.

Then Use Loft to get to the solid body.

As an experiment, I did manage to convert the mesh to a solid body but the resultant (huge) file is too complex for my PC to do anything with. The suggestion to model it fully in Fusion 360 or use a Mesh specialised SW may be best.Screen Shot 2023-03-04 at 5.09.38 am.png

I did model it in fusion 360. When I got the file off of the cloud to attach to this forum post it asked what type of file I wanted to save it as. There were several choices but I chose .STL because its all I have ever used. I just dont really understand the error or why I am getting it. Is there a better work flow to achieve the goals I mentioned earlier?

Export your Fusion 360 file as a .f3z Archive and attach that file to your original post.

I appears from what you did that I can use the scale command. I did a section analysis then scaled entities set to uniform. I then used combine, cut, make new component and keep tool. I am having trouble removing the tool body after the operation so the scaled body is not coming out hallow. Thanks for everyone's time. I promise this is the last time I will bother you all with this one.

Here's my Quick go...I Constructed some planes so as to get the Centre point of scaling but I think I recall this was unnecessary.

thank you I really appreciate your sticking with me on this one. I understand now what I was missing and why it wouldnt hallow out after scaling and combining. It was detached I just didnt do the 2 finally move commands that you did to move the body away from the combine tool. Thanks, I learned a lot.
