Problems with photo quality rendering of materials

Hi Colin,

I am having a hard time to get the photo quality that I am after and need in my shots and need your  assistance.

My main exterior appearance material is a White Plastic (glossy). I have tried a transparent acrylic and that material looks very real. I have tried rendering local in Fusion and through the A360 cloud. Can you please suggest what I can do to achieve a photo smooth gloss white plastic finished look within Fusion?

Perhaps a different material or settings as discussed in your article: Making it Look Good: Apply and Edit materials in Fusion360?

Much appreciated,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Just a heads up, I moved this message out to it's own thread so that it wasn't part of your other question.

Is it the rendering results of the material Plastic > Opaque > Plastic >Glossy (White) in particular?  Or the rendering engine (cloud or local) you are using?

Can you show a screen shot of the issue?

I was running some tests on that material and I'm not seeing issues in cloud or local renders.

Colin I think the struggle here is the lack of scene design abilities.
White materials are very hard to do in a white environment because the white plastic will show white reflections on a white part 😉

Kevin could you try this out: put up some reflection walls (black dark gray color) into your scene till they show up in the reflection?

Good point,

Other options could be to change the backgroun colour or to create light objects with emitting materials.

We will be providing actual light objects in a future release but this can help in the short term.

Hi Colin,

Thank you for moving this message out to it's own thread.

I am rending with the appearance material of: Plastic > Glossy (White). And I have tried rendering both local and cloud.

From the comments and you picture, I think that part of the problem is that I am shooting white on white. I am trying to convey a very "cleantech" appearance to the product. A contrast and reflections are needed to add depth and a reflective perception.

Due to the confidential IP of the project during development, I can not post a view. I can add you to the project if you would be so kind a take a fast look. I think that it would be best if you could see what I am doing and then be in a better position to recommend some options.

@kevinwatts,

Can you create the same effect that you are seeing with some simple unrelated geometry that you can share with us?

Thank you.

Here are some fast local renders on a sphire. The contrast and reflective qualities are what addes to the realism.
