Problem Selecting Face To Extrude

Quick question.  Sometimes I try to select a face to extrude, but there is a blue cast (see below) preventing me from selecting the shape I want to extrude (red arrow).  What is this blue cast showing and how do I get it out of the way to select the face I want to extrude?

the blue is from some other face, body, or model you have. Keep your mouse still and keep your click held down. It will show a list of every entity there and you can select the face "underneath"

There is probably a sketch on the blue plane.  Turn the visibility off and you should be able to select the other.

Thanks for such a quick response.  If I understand correctly, in this case it is showing what sketch is in the way.  It did not list it, but had a show/hide option to turn off the sketch.  Thanks so much for your help!

what your showing in your last picture is a right mouse click.  do a long left mouse click while hovering over the spot you want to pick.
