offsetting a gear

This may be a bit obvious, but I discovered it and so am reporting it. I used to make my own gear teeth using an approximation based on a couple of arcs for the tooth profile. The add in involute gear maker is so fast and efficient that I would prefer to use it, at least for involute profiles. (there are others). It produces a spline of many segments for the profile. Now I wanted to offset the profile outwards by half the kerf width of a laser cutter. It turned out to be easy to open up the group produced by the gear generator, find the sketch of the tooth, double click select it, offset it, remove the inner profile and close the sketch. The result seems to be what I needed.
