Anyone else has the same issue, not being able to measure a mesh ?

I don't get any results and it puzzles me....

@stiller.design

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

I open this 3mf file , but I can't measure anything. it works though when I create the mesh in Fusion 360

PS: had to zip the 3mf file, wouldn't let me upload it otherwise

Is the part supposed to be symmetrical?

I am trying to measure it , it should be symmetrical but I am not sure why that is relevant for measurements

Is the part supposed to be elliptical?

Triangular faceted mesh is rubbish - not sure why you would try to measure it?

I want to measure it and it doesn't let me do it. It wasn't a question about how awesome the triangles might look like.

Hi,

The measure tool does not have a snap function for mesh objects.
After conversion to solid, however, it works between surfaces, points and also for lines.
Since I don't deal with imported meshes, I can't say if it ever worked.

I don't have any problem measuring your mesh. Not sure if I have the latest version of Fusion though, haven't shutdown for a few days.

@g-andresen Although you get better results and measurement after conversion you did get a dimension before converting. If you look at the OPs video in the first post they don't get a dimension at all.

Also with orthro views you do seem to get a snap to vertex points.

@stiller.design  Yes, something odd about the mesh in your file, I can't get measurements off the mesh either.

Have you got the original mesh file? Can you share it here?

Thanks Mark

Hi,

In some tests I found that the measurement function only works if only the STL format was used for the imports and exports.*.
But, wherever, 3mf was involved, the (defined) measurement is no longer possible.
For this purpose, the file name is not taken over when importing 3MF (in contrast to STL).

* In later attempts, however, it no longer worked even with "pure" STL files.
