This might not solve your issue but I'll take a swing at it. If you wouldn't mind, please hit the like button if this at least gets you closer to your goal.
- Click the "Appearance" icon in the toolbar on the right-hand side of the screen. This will open the Appearance panel.
- In the Appearance panel, click on the "Texture" tab.
- Select the texture map you want to adjust by clicking on it.
- At this point, just mess with the settings until you start getting closer. After a certain point you should start to see whether or not the adjustments you’re making are heading in the right direction.
- Then utilize the sliders under "Texture Properties" to make adjustments to the texture map settings. I suppose you can adjust the brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, and other parameters too.
- Preview your changes in the "Preview" window on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Once you are satisfied with the changes, click "Apply" to apply the new settings to the texture map.
Plan B. Completely start from scratch. Off to the side recreate the object and apply a new texture map that has been resized.
