Moving origin to origin location of 3D axis icon

For some reason, the origin has moved.

I did not move the origin voluntarily, as far as I was aware........

I like to move the origin to origin location of the red-blue-green 3D axis icon.

How do I reset the origin?

Hi @Anonymous,

I have made a video about the Move & Align – Components vs Bodies. You should check it out, it'll might help you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DiwbQMQXNQ

@Beyondforce:

Thank you.

I want to move global and local origins to same location,

but hold all components and body locations unchanged relative to each other.

Looks like it is not possible.....

Or move a component to a desired origin location, eg, global origin..

Your video only shows there are 2 types of origin.

@Anonymous,

You don't need more than 2 Origins. Since Fusion 360 is based on Top Down workflow, it is not that often you need to reposition a component or a body from it's origin.

Just ignore it, and use the Joint command to place the component the way you want it. Fusion 360's workflow is not like the other CAD programs! (Before you start with Fusion 360 - Part 1)

If it's an imported component, you will not be able to edit it inside the assembly (they are working on it), that includes the origin repositioning!

I know it's a bit annoying, but it's not a big deal 😉

Just let me know if you need more help.

Cheers / Ben

@Anonymous it is not that important at all, to have a component's, body or sketch origin(global) at the top of the trees orign (local).

it's one of the gotchas in fusion.

if you want to aline them (you don't need to) use move point to point just select the components origin then the top of the trees origin and hit ok just rember to capture position.

The origin of what has moved ?

Yes again no screenshot, no screencast ?

I've asked you in about any of the many threads you started to please with your first post include a screenshot, post a screencast or share your design.

Perhaps in the screencast you can explain verbally what it is you are trying to achieve.
