Moving a Body/Component to a Sketch Point?

Alright, I'm guessing there's a super simple way to do what I'm trying to do, but I can't seem to find it...
Say I've drawn some geometry which is meant to represent a latch. It's two parts of a surface mount latch. My idea is to have this file saved, and any time I need to use it, I can import it into a drawing, drag it around and paste it where I need, then use a 'combine' to cut away the sections where the latch would sit. Does that make sense?
My problem is this: Say I've created two doors that I want to latch together. I want to be able to draw a sketch, then use a 'point to point' move, to move the latch to exactly where I want. Then use a 'combine, cut.' But I can't seem to use a point to point move on this geometry - it won't snap to a point that I create. I've attached an F3d of a test drawing. I would like to be able to drag the latch so that the split in the latch lines up with the split between Board 1 and Board 2, preferably snapping from a point on the latch, to the sketch line I've drawn crossing the two boards. Does that make sense?
Hopefully someone can tell me the simplest way to accomplish what I want (even if it's a totally different method then what I've been trying to do - maybe I'm completely on the wrong path.
Thanks in advance,,,
