mirrored inserted components

I am a bit stummped. I am trying to mirror an inserted component. I read a few things in the forum about copy paste (I am able to do that) but I am unable to select the pasted object to mirrot it to the other side. Not sure why this is not working. The hinges are inserted componts from another fusion imported step file.

All the links needed to be broken for that to work, but I did get it to work.

Mirroroing more than one of any one body at a time still does not work. Not sure what the issue is with that.

@James.Youmatz can you look into that issue? curious if it is related somehow.

Yea I can take a look into it, @eric_strebel. Let me ask around and dig a little deeper and I'll let you know as soon as I have an answer.

Hi @eric_strebel,

Just went to check your file this morning and I see you were able to mirror the bodies successfully! It looks really good. Were you able to figure out how to mirror all the bodies in a group?

Hi @eric_strebel,

I ended up asking around on why you couldn't mirror some bodies at the same time. It turns out that Fusion only allows bodies to be mirrored that are in the same component. If I recall, you had multiple components that you were trying to mirror that were all embedded and hidden by other components. I believe (but am not 100% sure) that this occurs because it has to do with determining where the mirrored bodies will go once mirrored. Sorry that in your situation you were unable to mirror multiple bodies at the same time.

I have to admit though, I just took a look at your project and it came out really good! Thank you for sharing that project with me.

You are welcome - Eric will understand 😉

Joke aside I think this might be a good are to see where the mirror tool has room to be improved. This was quite a nightmare to trouble shoot.

The currnent limitation is that the mirror tool does not mirror caompoents but just bodies. This has been suggested on the idea board already.

In Eric's file there is only one "part" that should be mirrired and that is the Temple piece. The lens also possibly could be mirrored. Parts to be manufactured should be mirrored.

However the Hinge should NOT be mirrored even if it may be more convenient. It is a purchased part that exists in one form only (so I assume 🙂  and a second instance of a proper Hinge assembly should be copy/pasted and then assembled.
