Mesh to solid - Help

Hello friends, I’m new to this world and I need some help. The uploaded model was scanned so that I could repair it because it is broken. Since the 3D scanner outputs mesh files, it needs to be converted into a solid in order to be able to redraw the broken parts. I tried following a step-by-step tutorial, but I just can’t manage to make it work. Is there anyone on the forum who would know how to do this and is willing to help? It’s a part that connects the motor to the fan and it’s made of plastic. Thank you in advance.

This claim is false. You can model a part using the scan mesh as a reference.

Sure. This is actually anchor between an engine fan and fan.

I would use the mesh as a visual reference only and model this from scratch with the native solid modeling or surface modeling tools in Fusion. Scanned meshes that get quad-remeshed and then converted into solid bodies don't lend themselves to easy modifications with CAD tools.

 

However, if you are only interested in this particular repair, here are a couple of workflows:

I have very bad expirience with scan-mesh and conversion into solid body, when we talking about plastic mold parts.

Few years ago i got six parts with complex shapes. In first look, i thought that i can not draw this and I took pieces on university and scan on Faro arm. I paid more than 200 euro for nothing, completly unusable models for split/mold.  

I sat in my chair, took few days and drew my parts and make the mold tools. One of the best jobs in my company, over the million parts produced, each one. 

Today, lot of my private jobs are spare parts for heavy machines (excavators, loaders, trucks,...) engaged in highway construction - i am not using scan, I dimension and draw all the parts. 

One can always expect some anomaly on the scanned piece. 

 

bolji život 92 - mislim da ti je bolja opcija uzeti šubler, lagano to dimenzionisati i nacrtati, jer se ne radi o dijelu visoke kompleksnosti. Ili nekom daš da to nacrta, ako si početnik - 15tak minuta posla ko je iole nešto crtuljao u životu. Teško da ćeš sa skeniranim dijelom uspjeti, jer imam silu negativnih iskustava sa tim načinom pokušaja produkcije. Pogotovo ako trebaš ubadati neke odnose i tolerancije, tu imas silu nekog prepravljanja. Jedino ako nije pretjerano bitno, vjerovatno će ti pomoći. A mislim da nije baš da nije bitno.

I completely understand you. Especially for me, everything is unfamiliar because these things are completely new to me. Previously, I hadn't had any experience with this apart from 3D printing ready-made models. I tried to design it myself, but I didn't get any further than drawing the circle itself, haha. I still need to watch a lot more tutorials. Thanks anyway.
