Mac users - Fusion always crashes from sleep?

Anyone else notice Fusion crashing nearly 10/10 times if it's left open and you allow your computer to sleep and wake?

This happens to me multiple times a day.

This is on a fresh (totally fresh) Yosemite installation and only the most recent Fusion installed (did this last night).

Hi Luke,

I am on the same set up (fresh Yosemite, fresh Fusion) and I am unable to repro this.

Can you send us your applogfile? Should in ~username/library/application support/autodesk/autodesk fusion 360/logs.

Thanks!

Regards, KpB

Hey Baribak,

Try leaving Fusion open while you browse the web for say... ten minutes. Then shut your laptop for say... an hour. A lunch break maybe? Maybe overnight? This is the only time this happens to me. Shoot me your email and I'll send you the logs. Thanks

I’ve been experiencing similar behaviors for months, including on a new system with a clean Yosemite install. It happens on some systems here but not on others.  I know there are a number of the Fusion team working on it. I have Fusion become non responsive, requiring a force quit, if it is left open for several hours- not necessarily after sleep, just open. I notice the the activity feed stops updating before this happens. I can trigger a freeze by trying to access any top level menus, or trying to quit or save a version.

Yes!  Last night twice in a couple hours.  Very frustrating.  I'm glad to hear it's not just me.  If there is anything I can do to help troubleshoot, please let me know.  I am on a relatively new MacBook Pro with Yosemite.  I've left Fusion running, left for lunch, came back to a black screen, woke up the computer and Fusion crashed.  I submitted crash report each time yesterday.  Second time I even wrote a little note in the crash report that it was sleep related.

Hi Paul,

We are sorry for the inconvenience this issue is causing, we are actively investigating (and have worked with Ron as well in the past couple of months to chase this down) but unfortunately we have been unsuccessful in reproducing this issue internally so far.  I noticed that you have called out your setup as Yosemite 10.10.1 and Fusion 360 build 2.0.1407.  Any chance you can upgrade to Yosemite 10.10.2 and Fusion build 2.0.1462 and let us know your experience?  Just to be clear there was no fix for this issue in the latest Fusion build, trying to understand if it happens regardless of the OS version and Fusion version.  Also, if you reboot your Mac does it make a difference?

We are also working on adding some code-level logging to see if we can trap this situation.  If you have noticed any other patterns when this occurs (say, running other software in parallel or say if it usually happens when your Mac has not been rebooted for a while, etc), please do share.

best regards,

Sanjay Jayabal.

I'm also seeing this on 10.8.5 Macbook Retina 15" Mid 2012.

When it happens, the app is still running for a bit, but effectively unresponsive.  I'll return after waking from sleep and the menubar/sidebar will be missing.  I'll try interact with the current document and the screen will not update, and shortly thereafter I'll get the spinning beach ball and the app must be force quit.  This is super annoying, but I've never really seemed to loose anything.

I've attached a screenshot, logs and a thread "sample" of it frozen after this happens.  Also, this error report is from the same crash: CER_110174854

Hope this helps tracking it down.  Let me know if I can do anything else.

Perhaps it would be good to gather system profiles, particularly regarding installed software, from those of us having this issue- Phil already has mine. I had this happening consistently with a 27” 2009 iMac, but when I tried Fusion on another hardware-identical system the issue did not turn up. When I took the system that had displayed the problem and did a complete wipe of the disk and install of the OS, installing no other applications except Fusion, I see the problem rarely, if at all. On my new iMac with all the apps I had on the old one, I see this issue consistently.

An excellent suggestion!

For those seeing random freezing or crashing after returning from sleep mode please feel free to send me your  system profiles via a private message.

Exactly how do we PM you?

This just happened to me again.  Again I submitted an error report.  I'll gladly send you my system report but I need an email address or something.  I am a crash or two away from putting Fusion away until a fix is ade available.  This is very frustrating.

Thank you for your patience as we track this down.

I presume some of you have tried this but just to ensure we're all on the same playing field can anyone experiencing this please try turning off (unchecking) the Data Collection and Use options in the Preferences dialog and see if it affects the severity or frequency of occurrences?

Thanks again for your patience.

Hi Jamie,

You can generate a System Report by clicking on the Apple menu > About this Mac > System Report. Then click on the File menu > Save.

Once done, you can attach it to a reply here.

Hope this helps.

I think it is my 3D connexion space navigator. I unplugged it yesterday because the blue light was annoying me and for the first time fusion didn't hang after leaving it asleep over night.  Plugged it back in and immediately Fusion 360 hung.

Attached is my system report.

Edit: Forum error "The file iMac.spx does not have a valid extension for an attachment and has been removed. "

No system report for you.

I had two iMac systems side by side, both with this issue, and only one had the Space Navigator attached- though both had the software for it installed.

I completely eliminated the problem by wiping the hard drive on one and only installing the OS and Fusion. So it doesn't seem to be hardware related.

Just a note; I had these sleep>crash issues after a complete wipe of my hard drive, install of Yosemite, update of Yosemite, and installing Fusion only.
