joint help

I'm working on a steam engine model. There is a crank mounted eccentric (white), driving a rocker arm (black) back and forth. The rocker arm needs to connect to a slide valve (blue) such that it moves back and forth. I can make this work with contact sets, however this requires more computer than I have. Looking for an alternative using joints.

@jhackney1972, you solved a similar problem on another design using a dummy component, and I suspect something similar is in order.

Well, I spoke too soon, the solution was just too simple. I created a component to slide in the rocker arm slot, then a revolute to the slide valve.   DUH

I used a Pin Slot Joint, on the blue pin for the black slot.

Worked as expected.

Might help....

Thank you for that Dave. I did get the pin slot to work. I must admit, I struggle with pin slot joints. I find it very confusing
