TO CLARIFY:

- Most number entry boxes (a type of "command input") only allow discrete input vs. continuous (as with a "spinner", or "slider"). (For comparison, see embedded image below.)

- A continuous input is convenient, as one can, in real-time, see an object change as the input value changes. Nice and interactive:)

- In an attempt to get this "continuation" behavior, I tried many combos of modifier keys + mouse click-n-drag, or cursor arrows, but to no avail:(

- Perhaps there is a design consideration to prevent such behavior? Hm?

So, is this doable, or is it just restricted to discrete input? TIA.

Hi @swami.human,

Thank you for posting in the community.

The spinner command input sounds very convenient!  I believe it shall help editing a object numerically.

At this moment I'm not sure if there are any restrictions to prevent this continuation behavior; however, I know there is a good place to get a feedback for this.  I would recommend adding this idea on the IdeaStation community to bring this to our development teams' attention.  I will vote it up if you post!

Hopefully this helps.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

Thx, saito.kh.

This "continuous adjustment" feature is common in many programs, so I'm surprised to find that it is not so in the generally excellent Fusion 360. But, now that I know, I will indeed submit it to the IdeaStation...

SuggestivelYours,

Swami

I think about this about.. thousands of times per day. Perhaps every time I have to key in a value.

If a strong aspect of Fusion is about being free to make and evaluate concepts.. using Form tool, direct editing, I wonder why in 2020 I still must enter precise values in numerical input boxes and make trial and error (mostly giving up being tired, not because I'm satisfied with the result). Blue arrow to be dragged are not always a good option, and do not exist in Sketch editing.
