Invisible objects

hi,

I wanted to start my first model with fusion 360.

The problem is that the 3D objects are not visible, unless I double click on it (the 2D objects in the sketches are visible).

I have the same problem if I import a model file created with another program (solidworks).

Can someone help me?

Can you attach some screen shots please. And export a design from the file menu and save as f3d and attach.

Thanks Mark

When you say not visible, do you mean completely missing, or showing as a wireframe? What are you double clicking on- in the drawing or in the browser? If you look for the 3D object in the browser, can you see it listed, and is the little light bulb visibility icon turned on?

One more question has Fusion worked for you at all, you say even an imported part doesn't display which sounds odd. One thing to try click the question mark, top right, select Graphics Diagnostics and on the next dialog select Limit all effects and see if that helps. Also can you get a screen grab of the dialog.

I have experienced in the past a similar odd issue when my default material in my materials library disappeared, as a result of a crash reassigning materials to a “favorites library” that didn’t exist. That resulted in all new and imported 3D objects being rendered with an invisible material. If none of the above suggestions apply, you might try dragging another material to the object (right mouse to get the marking menu, select Appearance) and see if visibility changes. If it does, check your Materials settings under preferences and see that they are set to "Fusion 360" materials library.

I post some screen shots.

In picture 1 you can see what I see when i open Fusion 360. In picture 2 you can see what I see when i try to create a cilinder (with comanand: "create"-->"cylinder"). In picture 3 you can see the cylinder just because i double clicked on the area where I ASSUME the cilinder is. If I don't double click, the cylinder is not visible.

You don't have a lot of memory on that card, try ticking the Limit all effect box.

Also noticed there a error message reminder at the top of your screen, what does it say when you click on it

the error is due to an update ("the product version database is currently locked due to an update or install already in progress")

Has Fusion worked for you on this computer and is this display problem something new. The error seems odd as the last update was about a month ago, so I'm wondering if your last update went wrong.

If you go to the Fusion 360-- Preferences and select Materials, what do you see? Can you post a screen shot? This looks just like what I experienced with an invisible default material. That problem was associated with a crash or failed update.

I've downloaded and installed Fusion a couple of days ago...

In the screen shot below I selected "steel" as material. Nothing changed.

You are using Physical Material not appearance. Just drag and drop one of the materials onto the body. Also Steel might be the default so if there's a problem with that material you need to try some others.

Hi,

From your graphics diagnostic dialog, this could be caused by that your graphics card driver is not installed properly. Can you please go to your GPU vendor website, download the latest GPU driver there and try again?

Thanks

Tried even with gold, no different results.

later I'll try with the GPU....

Actually what I was asking about were the materials settings in Preferences, and specifically to check and see what materials library is active. But the fact that you don’t see a change when you use another appearance material indicates that you don’t have the same issue I did.  I would follow up with Chengyun’s suggestion re. graphics card drivers.

Another possibility is to try removing and re-installing Fusion. http://fusion360.autodesk.com/learning/learning.html?caaskey=caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-d...

hi,

my GPU vendor has no drivers for my PC (maybe because my GPU is older than the other components of the PC).

So, if you don't have any other ideas of how to solve the problem, I think I'll buy another GPU  and then we'll se if something changes...

hi,

before I buy a new GPU, I post a screen shot of the one have. Isn't that good for fusion?

The minimum specification for Fusion is 512MB, I don't know if the shared memory is the same as having 512MB of dedicated. System Requirements.

Have you tried ticking the limit all effects check box? Also if the newest driver you can get is 2009 then the design of your card must be at least 6 - 8 years old so it might not be up to the job.
