Hello ,

Apologies for the newbie question. i just learning Autodesk to design my own desk workstation. its height adjustable and im gonna use lifting columns and linear actuators. im wondering if i can import ( adjust dimension ) or do you guys create them from scratch to mimic the dimension of the actual component ?

Many thanks

Alain

Is the actuator something you will buy "off the shelf?"

HI alain.kazan,

Linak has 3d models you can start with on their website.  you'll likely have to do a bit of modifications to them to get them working in Fusion the way you want, but the data is a good starting point.

hope this helps,

Since they aren't something you are going to make, you don't really need them in your assembly model unless you require them for visualization.

@chrisplyler , i was hoping to see it in action ( while lifting up and down and tilting ) .. but i guess its too promising for a newbie. , Thanks !

Sure, I get that. If you can download a usable model of the actual unit you will purchase, then great.

If not, you could just model something very simple that would serve the purpose. For example just a couple of cylinders with a limited sliding joint between them, and ball joints at the ends to connect to the rest of your design. That's enough to serve the purpose without getting super detailed.

I already purchased those items , I managed to import them into fusion . However I'm afraid that I'm disturbing you guys with "I still not familiar with it" 🙂
I can share what I have done so far ( without including the lifting columns and the actuator ) and maybe I can some feedback ? Thanks again !

Actuator used for sit stand desks are most like developed my FIRGELLI Automations. You can even buy their linear actuators separately. The type of actuators used in Desk lifts are called Telescoptic Actuators. This is because they have a leadscrew within a leadscrew type movement whih allows the actuators to extend further than their colapsed length which is required for a desk lift type application. the down side is that they trade off force. Visit FIRGELLI Linear Actuators to read their blog posts on exactly this subject.
