Import SVG or vector problem

I am having a problem everytime I insert an SVG or upload any vector file it drags my computer down so slow that every action takes minutes to respond  even just panning or rotating takes forever to catch up and this only happens with vector files, I can upload large complicated models and have no problems, no prblems rendering or with anything else  just these small vector files. What am I doing wrong. I do a lot of engraving on parts that I make for my customers with their logos so I'm always inserting their logos and it doesnt seem to matter if I create the vectors or if it is supplied in different formats from different customers, it's allways the same result.

Thanks in advance for your time.

I'm guessing the SVG imports have a lot of line segments. Can you use any other formats that use splines like DXF, although there have been some problems with imported splines being unusable.

Have you got a sample file you can upload, not sure if SVG files can be uploaded if you have any problem uploading either ZIP the file of change the extension to txt.

Unfortunately Fusion is just getting bogged down by the amount of curves and points from the SVG file. It looks like some of the curves are coming in as splines but others are being converted to short line segments. If you look at this image the centre of the letter P is probably 100 or more segments. It's odd the big M comes in as curves but the small M is all lines. Are there any tolerance setting in the program producing the SVG file or does it export DXF files.

Hi

I did export it as aDXF and it is definitely better but still almost too sluggish to work with. I have the logo in Aspire, I will see if I can clean it up and play with the tolerance.

Thanks

I just opened your DXF in Rhino and exploded the centre of the letter P, it comes out as 745 line segments!

Exploding the whole logo give 5702 lines, I don't think the sketcher in Fusion can really handle that much data.

I ran simplify and exported as a DXF with splines but it looks like Fusion doesn't like some of them, file attached. This has come up before Here

Unless you can get the logo as simple as possible with just lines and arcs I don't think Fusion is going to work.

Here's something you could try Temp2.dxf has the letters on different layers, when imported into fusion each layer becomes a sketch so you can turn off some of the letters.

The extruded logo is easy to work with.

Hi

Thanks for all the help i really appreciate your time, I can definitely make this work for now. Do you think this is something that will be addressed in fusion to be able to import vector files and work with them? This is a pretty simple logo that I could have just recreated inside fusion but i do a fair amout of this type of work and some of the logos would be extermely time consuming to recreate every time or have to spend hours manipulating the file in other programs trying to get someting to work.

Just to check I brought this into solidworks 2015 premium and it made everything very slow to work with because of all the line segments.

A problem like this can only be fixed by lowering the number of line segments in the original file.

If I bring this in one letter at a time its fine, but as one sketch its pretty unusable.
