Dear all,

could someone explain please how I can set the angle of the origin so that it is equal to the sketch itselft?

That would be really great!

Thank you so much for all your comments!

Hi,

I don' think it's available yet to move the origin, I guess the reason is that there isn't any need to, since you can sketch where ever you want, and you can create as much construction planes as you want and wherever you want

This is called the zy plane

What about it?

Could you show me where you want you're plane to be, in other words, where do you want to sketch?

please see the picture below. As you can see the green and the blue axes doesn´t align with the sketch. I think this will produce mistakes in the routing process isen´t it?ursprung.jpg

This looks strange ...

or it might be just the sketch plane grid appearing according to it's angle

Could you please share the file? go to file > export > .f3d and attach it to your next post

and write the name of the sketch please

Regards

ok, you´ll find two f3d-files in the attachement, the first file shows the wrong angle of the zyx coordinate => Ansaugstutzen v8

in the second file (=>Ansaugstutzen neu) I did a new sketch so that the sketch align with the zyx coordinate. But as before I got mistakes in the routing process, for example see plaeseIMG_8227.JPG the picture in the attachement.

I guess this is all a matter of CAM environment thing, you should have said something about it my friend 🙂

Anyway, I'm not really fully familiar with this environment so others might help.

@jeff_strater

Could you please take a look, because if CAM can't change the origin location, this might be a bug.

I recommend you post this in the CAM forums, you'll probably get a much faster answer there

Best of luck

It is not necessary to change the origin or change the sketch plane in order to machine these parts.  You do need to use the correct settings in your setup.  I'll make a video of the changes needed in a little while.

Here's the screencast.

It took at least 10 times longer to find all of the strange settings than it would have to just create two new toolpaths. Smiley Happy

Hi etfrench,

thank you so much! I really can imagine that it would be more efficient to create two new toolpaths. But with your video I learn a lot more! Smiley Very Happy

What I didn´t understand is that the simulation of the milling process looks all the time good. No mistakes wasn´t shown. Do you know why?

Sven

At 6:53 in the screencast you can see the tool is cutting on the wrong side of the selected contour.  I'm not sure why the red arrows were pointing the same direction on the two end parts as on the others.  The simulation showed they weren't correct.

The CAM module is really good compared to others, but it does take time to learn how to get the best tool paths and what the limits of your machine are.  I have quite a few broken tool bits to show for my learning curve.  Smiley Happy
