How to rotate inner rectangle with respect to outer rectangle.

I'm trying to create a rectangle inside another rectangle (see image). The outer rectangle is aligned with the axes so that's easy to make. The inner rectangle is skewed and I'm not sure how to do that.

I also want to constrain the Northwest corner of the inner rectangle to specific distances from the North and West sides of the outer rectangle. (I don't know what angle the inner rectangle is rotated, but I can measure the distance to the edges of the outer rectangle.)

I think this should be fairly straightforward if I just knew the magic incantation. Please advise.IMG_2566.jpg

Here is a Parametric layout of the sketch you desire.  I also added a Parametric Angle just in case you want to use it.  Modify the Parameter table to suit.  I used millimeters but the same would be true for other units.  Model is attached.

Thank you for your input. I have no doubt this will work, but I have no idea what you've done. I haven't done parametric modeling in Fusion before (or any CAD software for that matter). Please excuse my ignorance.

Now that I've heard about this option, I'm watching a video to learn more.

I can see that setting parameters can be very handy in making quick changes. I can see how to change the values and rename the parameters from the Modify->Change Parameters button.

But I can't even get my inner rectangle rotated and positioned yet. I don't know how to constrain a point to a distance from the edge. I would think you should be able to do that, but I don't know how.

Can you please walk me through the steps, or point me to a tutorial?

Wow! that was *exactly* what I needed. Short, succinct, and very clear. I *really* appreciate you doing this.

A couple of things I think I was doing wrong—which I can now correct.

  • I was using a 2-point rectangle and now see I need to do a 3-point rectangle.
  • I was unfamiliar with the sketch dimension, but now I see how it works.

Again, thank you.
