How to pick an axis

How do I pick an axis (for example for rotation)?

The question seems to be too simple to be explained online.

Ok, I didn't watch all the videos (yet).

And manuals .. that was last century.

Thanks for hints.

Hi,

If you mean the axis is inside of a body or behind it and you can't pick it, then left-click and hold and you'll see a dropdown menu showing everything selectable in that point you clicked at

If the required operation needs an axis, you can select it by clicking on it

@Anonymous,

You may need to turn the origin visibility on.  Mine is often off.

Thanx Josh, that was the problem.

I have the exact same problem. Rotated a few objects without thinking about it, and now I spent like half an hour to try and do it again...

I don't know how to click the axis. I tried clicking on the y, z, x axis but this does nothing. Hovering on them says "Pick a rotate axis", but nothing works..

Having exactly the same problem. It's crazy how hard simple things are just because the user interface is so unintuitive. I clicked to view origin but still I have no idea where I'm supposed to be clicking to rotate a simple object.

Click on the object first, not the axis.

 It is usually better to use a joint to position an object (component).
