How to insert components into assembly

Can't find insert in the assembly tab.

I think I missed something basic, I like to make a complete assembly of my design but I can't find the way to do it.

In Solidworks it a easy way but in Fusion 360?

Hi Håkan,

We call it "Insert" and it's located in the data panel.  Just open the data panel, right click on the file you want to insert and the option will be there.  Let us know how it goes!

Welcome to Fusion!  What are you designing?

So easy, thanks!
I have design a lot of parts but I have never made a assembly in Fusion 360.

(I'm designing a hyperthermia system in a science project)
I really love this software(much value for the money), even if there is some bugs in this early state.
Most of all I appreciate the including cam feature!

Best regards

Håkan

I'm glad that solved it!

Here is a good video on assembly joints as well that I found helpful:

(Now that you have the assembly imported I figure your next question might be around orientation.)

Yeah, isn't the cam terrific? I just did a tip today actually on interference detection. I'm a big fan.

Have fun designing. Let us know if you have other questions.

Best,
Mike

I'm a bit stuck with inserting a component that was created within a different file. The top level file appears in the Data Panel, so I can insert that using the method described above, however, I only want to insert one component from that file, and maintain links. Is that possible?

Alternatively, is it possible to save a component from file into the Data Panel as its own file? If so, is it possible to maintain the link with the original file?
