Can't use a sketch as a profile

I have a sketch I want to use as a profile in a Revolve operation. I can't select my sketch. I've edited my sketch to draw a box into it. I redrew the polylines and splines on that box. Still no profile. I've tried to project all the components of the sketch on a plane. I couldn't project the spline with the message that the result would generate a degenarated model. What can I do?

Best regards.

Would you be willing to post your model here, or even a couple of screenshots?  It would make it easier to figure out what is going wrong with your sketch.

Thanks,

Jeff Strater (Fusion development)

In the small amount of time I've used Fusion, I'm finding there's a real disconnect or non-intuitive connection between the sketching tools and model creation.  Am I in Sketch mode, Model mode, Sculpt mode, did I finish my form?  Too many clicks to get where I want to go.  I'm coming from Vectorworks and a little Rhino and don't understand why the work flow isn't more fluid and connected.  What am I missing?

Hello,

I prepared short video "how to export or share design" in Fusion and A360. The A360 offers also export options I didn't mentioned in video.

notice the share document shares the latest version of your design, including the future modifications when downloaded in future. The export is snapshot of current state.

regards

Martin

hello Jibberjack,

the work flows of modeling might be different among various software. Please give it more time and you will see, it just needs little different approach.

I would recommend you to watch some tutorials.

The Fusion is in development and you can help us to improve it. Please feel free to post your improvement to: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation-request-a/idb-p/125

we appreciate your opinion

regards

Martin

Hi Gillesht,

Sharing the model from A360 should result in a link.  You can just post that link here, and we can download  your design and can help you.  Alternatively, you can just use Export (in the File menu), and choose "Archive Files (*.f3d)" as the type.  This will save your design on your local hard drive, and you can just attach it to a post here.  I can then download it from here, and upload it to my personal hub, and I would be happy to help take a look at your problem.

Here is a screencast showing the local export option:  http://autode.sk/1Ku2zQd

Thanks,

Jeff

I've solved my problem by projecting the components of my sketch in a plane. I've made a Revolve with that profile. Then a Shell. How canI export a .stl file for 3D printing?

Best regards.

Great!  Glad to hear that you solved your problems.

There are two ways to save as STL:

From the context menu on the design, a component, or a body:

save as stl 1.png

Or the "3D Print" command:

save as stl 2.png

Both get you to similar dialogs:

save as stl 3.png

Where you can specify some accuracy parameters, and optionally choose to export to a 3D print utility.

Good luck with your design!

Jeff

I won't judge, promisse.

Just want to see how did you approach this design. As I have one and It is quite complex geometry, but its satisfactory result.

Again, thanks for sharing.
