That's not really going to achieve what I'm looking for...I want to be able to have a given shape evenly distributed and wrapped (preferably bent to the curve) of a sphere. Here is an example of how your suggestion does not work:

I have been trying to figure out work flows to do exactly what your asking for and to be honest there is no easy or good way to do this in Fusion right now. It's a lot of manual labor to get the proper results. Functionality like this exists in polygon modeling apps. It would be nice to see this in Fusion.

I think the feature we need is to say, turn a sphere into an evenly spaced number of dots, and then to be able to apply an object to the position of those dots. Even in polygon modelers it's not easy to evenly distribute a shape along a sphere, instead you have to physically model the pattern on to the sphere, which is very limiting to what shapes you can use since you can only really use natural shapes created by smoothing algorithms.
The pattern commands in Fusion are very similar to many other CAD apps in the results they are trying to achieve.
the irony is that while we re working in a 3D environment , the only thing we can pattern 3D objects in 2D patterns patterns. The only excepting maybe is pattern along a path as that also include a 3D spline.
Yes, stuff like this would be great for 3D printing applications.
How about you put that in the Idea Station an link back here. I'd vote for it!
hi mike c here sorry to cut in does anybody know how to make 3d cone like a taper on a part leg thanks mike c
