how to check the properties of a drawing - ie thread size

Hi - I'm very new to CAD. Would some kind person tell me how to check the thread (I have one piece that screws into another piece and I want to make sure that the thread sizes are correct). I guess there must be an easy way to check this,  but I can't find it...

Thank you - Pete

Hey there! Thanks for reaching out! We have a thread tool that lets you set specific sizes. For example, say that I want a bolt to be M10 x 1.25. In the thread tool, you can select the correct options that will give you that specific size. You can also choose whether you want the threads to be modeled or just appear as an applied texture. Keep in mind that if you have the modeled option checked and have lots of bolts in your assembly, the amount of modeled threads in your design may impact overall performance.

Hi Keging,

Your answer doesn't answer the question "how can I check the size of an existing thread?"

I have a drawing that I made a while ago, and today I wanted to see if I created the correct dimensions at the time. I know what size the thread must be, but I didn't find a way to check if I did make a mistake.

So is there a way to check the dimensions of an existing thread or is the information about a thread dimensions lost after the thread is created?

To be precise, in my case the threads are just an applied texture. (maybe with the modelled threads, the inspection tool gives the thread specifications).

Thank you - Matt

You should be able to go to the timeline and find the the point in time the thread was created, right-click on the thread feature and see what you've set as thread size.

@keqingsong: I guess he wants to gather the information in the drawing workspace and not going back and force between the e.g. model workspace and the drawing workspace.

Why isn't there a thread/tap callout available in the Drawing environment?

Hi chrisplyler,

We have feature recognition (this would include tapped holes and hole charts) on our roadmap, but currently this is still something on our To Do list.

Thanks,
Chris

Any update on this? Running into this problem a lot. Setting up the CAM work and there are various threaded holes. I have to select it, it gives me the radius, I double it to get the minor diameter, then check the drill tap chart to see what size screw that is a predrill for.... but still doesn't tell me if its a 2-56 or a 2-64 screw.

So basically stuck doing that or going from manufacture back to design and looking for the feature, then switching back.
