how to add supports to hold floating parts of letters

I am designing a trailer hitch cover for a friend, is is oval and will be 2 parts, the back plate is just the oval with reflective tape, the from with the lettering, is thru extruded, leaving the openings. There are letters that were drawn from the spline tool to get the logo close to correct. So after you extrude the letters you have the parts that are floating, like in the "g", "e", "a", "R", B, O, A, so how do I add small ribs to hold them in place, and not show up too much?2560px-Ranger_Boats_Logo.svg.png

When this is finished, and assembled, the headlights will hit the reflective tape and make it seem as though the logo is lighted. At some point I may make it into a lighted one, but not at this time.

thank you in advance for the time need to read and reply to my question.

Hi,

for such purposes there are stencil fonts.
If it does not exist in the desired font, connect the parts with a line and extrude it with Extrude > Thin Extrude minimal.

Hi,

I think it is about the inner parts of some letters

That was my first thought but I think in this case the OP is looking for a plaque approach, not a stencil... well that's how I thought.

Yes it is about the inner parts of the letters, and I dont think there is a stencil font available for it. I will try the line, extrude, thin suggestion, that might be what I need. the drawing with the ble lines added is what i will be trying to get to, yes it will look more like a small plaque.

thank you

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file of your attempt to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

This should be an easy one to solve.

Hi,

Hi,
I think that there is no right or wrong when the arrangement of the bars corresponds to your feelings.
However, you would have to test whether the extrusion height of 0.05mm is sufficient.

this one has raised letters attached to the oval back, and it failed when it started to print the oval, I would guess that I will probably have to add some kind of supports for the oval in the slicing software. I have 2 different model ideas, this one has just solid letters, and the other one has the open letters. I am not very good at this so far, this project seems to be harder than I though it would be. I will have to add the supports to both and then I can print the open letter one to see if the extrusion height will be enough, do you think that 1mm would be a better idea? I dont know what i was thinking, by printing with the letter face down, i should have put the oval down and the letters facing up. I will reprint it and it will probably work.

thank you

I do not want them floating, I want them attached to the back plate oval, for this one. Can you explain how to do that or just do it, and I will look at the steps when I open the file in fusion 360. I would need a step by step for me to do it, and then I would learn how it is done.
