How to add background object in sketch to aid design process?

If I'm making a sketch for an object that overlays onto an existing thing that's not modeled, what kind of options are there to show the background object to use as reference? I was thinking of using construction lines to show the background object. Is this the right way or is there a better way?

if the background is part of your scene models...try photomatch

if its just a background, your method is just enough and or use your background by style method

Those videos are for SketchUp and I'm using Fusion 360. Does that apply to Fusion 360 as well?

It also allows you to position and scale the image and to change opacity settings.
