How do you Sketch/add Splines to a mesh/body?

Hi

I was able to do this earlier, but can't seem to get it to work now. I swear I just selected the mesh/body after clicking on Create Sketch and was able to use Fit Point Spline on the body of the mesh. I also have 3D Sketch ticked, if that's related at all. Now I can't seem to get it to work. The points just keep being added to the grid. What's the correct procedure for doing it? Have I missed a step? I also noticed that if I use a Spline on a mesh, I can only move the points and anchors if I right click and select Move/Copy...? Is that correct? It's a pity you can't move them the same way as with the Line/Spline of a Sketch.

Also, is it possible to add things like the Center Diameter Circle to meshes/solid objects? Or are those only for Sketches?

Thanks

2d sketch tools do not work in 3d sketches.

You are correct, you can only move 3d spline points / handles with the Move command.

Mesh bodies have their own set of limitations, stick to Fusion models in Fusion, and Mesh models in Mesh Modellers.  Life will then be so much simpler.

Hmm. To be honest, if I need to use the Meshes, I'd probably just use another package like Max, Maya or ZBrush. I'd like to learn Fusion for the hard-surface stuff. I just can't seem to figure out how to get the Splines to go over the model I have. Am I using the right steps?

EDIT: Never mind. Figured out what I was doing wrong - I was selecting the wrong face instead of the one I thought I had. XD

Fusion works best with strictly 2d sketches

(that are fully defined, so parameter changes don’t break the model,)

to base correct modelling tools for the end result.

3d sketches are nowhere near as powerful as expected by new people, they are limited to - line, arc, Splines, and Include 3d Geometry.

You should avoid primitives, as well.

Present picture/s of what you want to make, responders will advise how it’s done.

Basic tutorials are available under menu items at top right of the screen, you won’t find many for 3d sketching there.

Well, I was going to start a new thread about the current issue I'm having, so I guess I could always post about here. I've trying to replicate this partition, but having a hard time:

That's why I tried adding a Spline over the model and splitting it, but that hasn't done the best job. I kind of need a strip that goes around that I can then extrude up slightly. But I'm just not seeing how I could do it. 🤔

I am not an expert on figurines.  Top, side and front sketches will be a good start.

Do that one with lots of smaller pieces joined to become the finished model.

Head is a Revolve, torso a Loft, legs and arms are Revolves / extrudes,

details fillet / chamfer are smaller modelling shapes.

If you have a Mesh Model, then Section sketches - and fit curves to Section are the way to go.

Not a beginner's project.

I have the head, body, and underside done with half a sphere using Revolve. I'll add symmetry later. But it's just that partition on the head that I marked in red I'm not quite getting..

Didn't notice the red highlight thought it was colour scheme.

Split face, then New Offset with Press Pull.

Nose and eyes are separate bodies.
