Having problems dimensioning in Fusion 360

I am completely new to F360.  I have run Inventor pro and really like it, but now I'm trying to learn Fusion.  I have searched the internet and I have found some answers to my question but all were several years ago.

The question:  I can make a complete square box, and go to dimension it and pops up a "adding this dimension will over constrain the part"  You can choose to make it a driven dimension but that's not what I want.

In Inventor I could make a box, come back and dimension it to whatever I wanted it to be.  If I put a hole anywhere, you could dimension the hole to the box and it would put the hole exactly where you wanted it.   Not Fusion.  To me this is very frustrating.  I watched a you tube video and the guy said to just delete the constraint icons and dimension the way I wanted.  Does this mean I'll have to do this every time?  Or can I turn off something in the program to do what I want?  I'm sure I've made this clear as mud but I didn't mean to.

It is not clear if you are sketching a square, and trying to dimension it, or trying to sketch a 3D box.  Normally  you would sketch a square and dimension it, then extrude it to create a box.  It would help to see your model, please attach it.  Open the model, select File menu, then Export and save to your hard drive.  Attach it to a reply post using the attachment section.

or, even better, a screencast/video.  The process is nearly the same as in Inventor.  Draw a rectangle, dimension the sketch, exit the sketch, Extrude, start Hole, pick an edge and enter the distance.

Thanks Guys...

I don't know if I had a brain fart or what but I thought that was the way I was doing it.  I tried making a box and dimensioning it as in the video.  Yep, it worked!  I don't know what I was doing wrong.  I do appreciate the help.

I am so stuck in Inventor maybe I'm trying to make this harder than it really is, who knows?

It looks as though I was trying to dimension the box after I made a 3D model of it.  I played with it for a while and found out if I wanted to change a dimension that was in the model, I had to do it in the parts tree.  I would've bet money I did it in the model, but I've been wrong before...
