Free add-in: mSt sketchTools

I am pleased to offer the Fusion 360 community a free add-in: mSt sketchTools.

The add-in includes three easy-to-use commands:

  • Source of sketch-plane recognizes which planar entity was used to create a sketch-plane.
This allows to identity links between components/bodies/sketches (e.g. in a top-down design).
  • Break sketch-links makes it possible to break the links of all projected elements in a single operation.
  • Measure sketch-curves displays the total length and length of each segment of a connected curve.

Very useful! I really like the documentation, explaining the not so obvious things that can get in the way of the tool.

Thanks for downloading my add-in and for your feedback.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure I understand your request correctly (maybe because it's the end of a long day and my brain needs some sleepSmiley Frustrated).

To which of the three commands your request refers? Does "content" refer to the text output in the dialog?

Sorry for the inconvenience

Measure sketch-curves.  It would be nice to copy the results in order to paste into a spreadsheet.

Thanks, @etfrench I get it now.

What you can already do now is to mouse-drag select the text in the dialog:

mouse-drag selected textmouse-drag selected text

Then use ctrl-c (right mouse-button does not work - I have to check why not) to copy the text.

Then paste into spreadsheet. Done.

But I see some room for improvement: the result text can only be copied as a whole. To be able to copy only the numbers would be better. So I will check that -> "under review"Smiley Wink

Thanks again!

Hi Mr.Steinbach,

I do not want to diminish your work, quite contrary. ... very well done ...

However, the measuring functionality should be the intrinsically based within the core code of F360.

There are many reasons, some of them are so obvious that we can not even spell them out.

Some others are not so obvious, like reliability, legal requirements, liabilities, etc.

Nevertheless, I hope that your work will trigger some response in TF360 and we will have the additional button in the current measuring tool called Accumulate.

With Regards

MichaelT

An update was released today - mSt sketchTools can also be used in UI preview mode, located in TOOLS:

UI preview mode "TOOLS"UI preview mode "TOOLS"

Free download via Autodesk App Store

Please note that UI preview (and the API) is still under development, so the add-in will be released as a temporary quick-fix.

I would like to thank the Autodesk app review team (Application QA) in India for their support.

Hi Glenn,

the add-in should show up under TOOLS (see message #8 - the former UI-preview is now the production-UI) .

And it´s for WIN64 only (no Mac).

You can try to reinstall the add-in. The install procedure was done by Autodesk so I don´t know the details.

Hope this helps.

To be precise:

reinstall = in Windows first deinstall the app, then install it (mSsketchTools_win64.msi) again.

Hello,

Unfortunately your add-in is not (no longer) available from the Autodesk App Store. I've also tried your website and am presented with an "Under Construction" icon.

Best regards,

Leslie

Hi,

I thought I finally had found a solution to my problem of calculating pipe lengths but could not find your add-in.

Seams you have done a awesome add-in hope it will be back either as an add-in or as a native feature of Fusion 360.

Regards Björn
