Exporting models for color 3D printing

I have seen some topics on this in the forum back in 2014, but I thought I woudl ask again, since I have need for this now:  I created a beautiful colored model in Fusion, and there seems to be no export function that preserves any sort of color.  Any help in the regard?

Otherwise, I will have to export the file, and hand-color it in Meshmixer, which is OK, but will take a while.

Hey @nkloski, thanks for the post - great question! STL inherently doesn't support color information, but the .obj file type does.

Thanks! I do have questions: in the video you just posted, it does not look like color information is preserved...that was what I was asking about. I have to color my models by hand in Meshmixer in order to get them to 3D print in color, so I was looking for a shortcut, since Fusion already "shows" colors. I just want to "save" colors on export.

Also, I have another thread open where my .OBJ export continually crashes Fusion 360....so I can't test out the color reproduction in .OBJ export to see for myself.

Hi,

Feedback I got from development is that Colours are not exported with the OBJ file.

Using Mesh-mixer is currently your best workaround.
