Errors while exporting to STL

I have a model that is split into multiple bodies for convenient 3D printing. However, when I right click on the component and try to save as STL (with one file per body) I get errors. This is the error message that I see. There are 6 bodies in the design.

Error: Autodesk Translation Services failed to translate the current document to stl file!
Error: Autodesk Translation Services failed to translate the current document to stl file!
Error: Autodesk Translation Services failed to translate the current document to stl file!
Error: Autodesk Translation Services failed to translate the current document to stl file!
Error: Autodesk Translation Services failed to translate the current document to stl file!
Error: STL Translator failed to export data

Is this a bug? What am I missing?

Yes - you missed to upload your project here 😉 But seriously, could you either attach an export or share a link so that we can have a look at it?

Sorry for replying so late but I somehow lost / missed your post with the link.

I've downloaded your Fusion file and uploaded it into my repository. After that I've exported everything as one STL and as separated STLs. Both works fine on my old Windows 7 notebook. I've recorded the steps in this screencast.

I've attached the exports, too.

Thank you. I’ve tried exporting with the exact same steps. It doesn’t work. Maybe because I’m running it on a Mac and there is some weird bug? I’ve tried this with other models as well and it doesn’t work. I restarted Fusion and then tried again. Still no joy 😞 I was able to export by saving the individual bodies but I was hoping that the one click option of saving to multiple files works.

That's not so great to hear. The last idea I have would be to clear the cache.  This process may delete files that have not yet synced to the Autodesk 360 dashboard. So choose wisely.

Hmmm...  Interesting.  I was able to get this to work fine, even with one file per body, on both Windows 10 and Mac 10.13.  I have no idea what the problem might be for you.  Can you check what version of Fusion you are running (it should be under the ? menu in the upper right)?

One more question:  Are you changing the "Refinement" input at all?  Mine is set to "High".  Do you have "Preview Mesh" checked?  Does your dialog look like this?:

Just trying to figure out what might be different in your environment

I have this exact problem, also on a Mac. I have not changed the refinement settings the preset is set to high.  Any way to resolve this? I need to export a multi component project as separate STL's.

I right clicked on the individual body/component and selected 'Save as STL'. This was the only solution that worked. This can get very tedious real quick if you have a lot of components that you have to export. @jeff_strater This needs some more investigation, possibly a bug? It seems multiple folks are not able to do this on a Mac.

Yes, more investigation would be good.  However, we have as yet been unable to reproduce this problem here.  We really need a reproducible case for us to find out what is going on.  We'll keep looking, of course...

I had same problem with 2 errors while trying to export as stl.

if i convert bodies to components, they translate fine.

Any ideas why?

it makes my history a bit messy!
