Drawing Attribute list dialog

Hi,

I recently discovered there were changes to the custom title block functionality with the new "block editor". Editing custom attributes requires going into the editor.

Please bring back the dialogue that lists all the attributes when clicking the titleblock. This is grade 1 level coding that can be done in short time and it was unnecessary to remove this in the first place. It now takes longer to add information to a titleblock in this block editor.

Regards,

@Six1Seven1 You don't have to go all the way into the block editor to fill in your attributes, you only need to do that to modify the location or definition of attributes, or to add/remove them from the title block. In order to fill in the attributes, simply double-click on the title block and then click on any attribute that you want to populate in-place. Hopefully you find that helpful, let us know if you have any other questions or feedback.

Hi,

So I suppose I was correct that the original design for editing attributes was via a form that popped up, is no longer supported. This was MUCH more fluent and time effective. Users should have the option to either click the physical attribute in the block or use a form/dialogue to quickly enter their fields.

I may consider writing an Addon to bring back this functionality, assuming the API supports it.

Regards

Hi @Six1Seven1, once you've double-clicked the title block to enter the attribute editing mode (the same behavior as previously when we had the form dialog), you can simply click an attribute directly in the block to edit it, as you requested below. Hopefully that's helpful. We are continuing to take feedback on this feature so that we can make improvements, so we appreciate your candidness.

Unfortunately, there is no API available for the drawings workspace, but thank you in advance for your patience as we work to continue to enhance the drawings functionality.

Hi @TimeraAutodesk  and @Six1Seven1

I am new to Fusion 360, and trying to figure out drawings, and I am confused about the "Attribute Dialogue box" which I can't for the life of me find.

In reading this thread, I'm now under the impression that this is a feature that has been removed from Fusion 360. Is that the correct interpretation? I was expecting that I could open a table to edit the content of the title block by filling out a table as show here:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=GUID-B0A4BEF9-5DBB-4843-9D5B-EE080CCFD9E7

If this feature has been removed, I'm with @Six1Seven1 please put it back in! It's a way more efficient option for updating title blocks.

Thanks!

The feature is removed unfortunately.

When I first used the dialogue with a custom template, I was pumped. Finally, adding titleblock fields in drawings is seamless and efficient! Then it... is removed.

I don't even think SW has that option. At least, not natively. So, it sets them apart. Why Fusion team took it away, world will never know.

The attributes functionality was not removed, it was just changed. Instead of having a big, clunky dialog to fill out, you can now fill in your attributes in-place. Double-click on a title block to enter the attribute editing mode, and you'll see all of your attribute placeholders show up in blue - simply click on any of them to override or fill them out. Hopefully you find this helpful. As always, we're listening to the feedback of the community and will continue to refine the experience in future releases.

Seems to me a loss, having all the drawing attributes in a form made visible what was filled in and what wasn't.  Now you have to scroll around the screen clicking on attributes that are barely visible on the drawing template to make entries. It involves a lot more work for the user, scrolling from point to point, extra mouse clicks, etc....

I do not know how someone would believe that this is better.???!!! Probably the same people that think a light text  on a light background is good. Or even better, light text that is hollow -- just an outline -- is even better.

Anyhow, I want access the template attributes one way or another for a system that automatically archives drawings. Any one, know of any resources that might help me out?

Thanks,

Andre'
