Display a list of constraints and elements of a Sketch

Hi,

I'm rather new toF360 (great tool) , so sorry if this is a simple question or has been answered already, I haven't found it :-o.

While editing a sketch, there can be a lot of elements and constraints, which are sometimes difficult to find when I need to fix it, and I'm wondering if there is some sort of listbox I can activate on screen to see a list of constraints, and, separately, a list of elements of the sketch.

I have a little experience in CAD using FreeCAD, and as an example, see attached screenshot; when you create a sketch, on the left you have a list of elements as well as a list of constraints, which makes it easier to find, select and, ie, remove. Is that something available in F360 ? Or is ther another/better way ? Selecting directly on the sketch can be tricky and tedious.

Thanks a lot for any help/hint

No, unfortunately this does not exist in Fusion 360. I believe there is an idea in the Idea Station. Go Vote for it or if you cannot find it, create a new one and post a link to it back here. You'll have your first vote!

I noticed this in the browser version, don't know if it's coming to the desktop version

so I posted the idea here, based on the comments of this post 🙂

Badly needed, as trying to move an element on the simplest sketch of only one object with 8 lines in total...

After 20 minutes of deleting all  constraints one by one - no success...

+ plus 20 minutes searching for help...

+ 5 min writing this...

....so to learn Fusion 360 will take a millennia!

Maybe this it what you  need.  maybe not.  If your struggling with a problem in your sketches, you should post a question (in a new thread) and get some help.

I hear you.

Automated constraints in sketches are #1 productivity killer. Like, if I wanted the spline handles always be locked immediately after creating the line I'd use the line tool - for me the main point of splines is being able to adjust the curves until they are just right. I rarely get it right on the very first try, and deleting and redrawing feels a bit.. rudimentary.

Which is likely the reason they are implemented about every parametric CAD software on the planet, covering 90% + of the CAD market.

Has this feature been added to the desktop version of Fusion 360? I haven't found it yet but to be honest I'm not exactly where where to look, hence my reply. There is a "Sketch Palette" floating window that has "options", one of which is "Constraints", but checking it does only toggles the display of a few constraints (unknown/unknowable how they're chosen). The vast majority of constraints can only be viewed one at a time upon selecting objects.

ARRRRGHHHHHH.  My old programmers mind is struggling with not being able to see any representation of the constraints in the GUI, that already has to exist in the backend...

For what it's worth, coincident point constraints were a hidden source of my problem.  If you are here as well, fellow traveller, try this and see if this helps you regain your sanity.  Right click on the points around your problem area and see if there it a 'delete conincident' option... if so, click it - and that might remove what is killing you softly.  (I removed about 10 coincident constraints that I'm pretty sure Fusion sneakily stuck in there to mess with me, and then I had my win that had cost me an hour this morning)

I'm on a 30 day trial, and I cannot see the browser version.  Dang it.
