When I hoover over any menu option the tool tip flashes on then immediately dissapears.  As a new user, this is killing me.  Any idea why or how to fix it?

Using

Fusion 360 version  2.0.1870

under a student plan on an Azus desktop, Windoze 8.1 .

Are you saying that this issue was fixed in a previous version of Fusion 360, and has is present in the most recent version released? Which version was it working in?

Hi, Yes before the release last week, i was not experincing any issues with Tool Tips, i would have noticed as i have sombody learning how you use Fusion 360, and they find the tool tips very useful.

regards Mark.

Well, I'm seeing the same thing. It was fixed for a long time, but the problem has resurfaced now in the latest update. The temporary fix by dragging (and docking) the toolbar down and then back up fixes the issue, but only until Fusion is restarted. Then the problem comes back.

Dragging it down and back up only works until I use a tool. After that, it is broken until Fusion 360 is restarted.
It appears there’s no way to revert to a previous version of Fusion 360, so we will have to wait for a fix.

I can confirm this, using a tool after the temporary fix brings back the issue. Smiley Sad

I have this problem as well. Recently installed student version and tool tips flash for a second and disappear behind fusion window. Any fixes yet?

@hauver.1 Yes it is expected that all customers using Windows will see the tooltip flash and disappear.

Workaround:

Place the tools in the toolbar. The tooltips for toolbar items are persistent.

We are aware of this and are working to release a fix for it as soon as possible.

Thanks for your patience and sorry for the trouble.

Got the same problem, as a new user its very annoying since i need tooltips to discover the program. Dragging the toolbar to the botton works for me (temp), many thanks, "ragequit avoided"

Sketch and modeling seems very noob-friendly, good work !

@Anonymous Welcome to the Fusion 360 community.

The other workaround is to place the tools into your toolbar. The tooltip for those items is not affected by this bug. When you are done with the tools on the toolbar, you can drag them off of the toolbar to remove them and make room for more.

Thanks and let me know if you have more questions.

If you scroll down any menu selection item without pressing the mouse buttons, the tool tip pops up for a second and disappears.

Hold the LEFT mouse button down as you scroll down the menu items and the tool tip for the scrolled over item stays on the screen until you release the mouse button.

That's a much better workaround, good catch!

I did the same. Reduced the Fusion screen size, moved the tool bar off the Fusion screen and all is well. Tool tips do as they were designed to do. This problem only started during the past few days

I'm also having this disappear tips issue. But this press and hold trick is a nice workaround but very inconvenient. I hope this get fixed soon.

A year and a half of use and this just started happening to me after a fresh re-install and graphic driver update.

Just to be clear: this is not a problem related to graphics drivers or re-installation. This is a bug in the tooltip code for Windows only. Is is fixed in development builds and the fix should be released in an upcoming update.

To see tooltips on menu items: Left mouse down on any command to see the tooltip.

Yeah, I thought I noticed the devlog videos are on OSX! 😛

If anyone else feels the need to reply and say #metoo, I think Autodesk get the point now!

Thanks, you are correct, updating drivers and a re-install does not fix the
issue

As the originator of this thread, I never could get Fusion to work correctly, and after a couple weeks of trying to figure out if I should create parts out of components, or components out of sketches, and building a series of joints starting from what I intended to be the stationary component, only to have the entire thing swivel around some later joint for no apparent reason after working ok for the first 3 or 4, I gave up.

I have been a CNC machinist since 1985, and, even though Mastercam states that it is not the ideal environment for creating 3d geometry (It is oriented toward creating optimal toolpaths) I have no problem creating highly complex 3d solid models in minutes.  I generally have no problem using OpenSCAD or SketchUp, and have even become comfortable falling back to the Unreal Engine at times, but Fusion has been nothing but an irritation every time I try.  I am actually upset, since so many people seem to use it, and I would really like to be able to use the mechanical rendering capabilities to work out certain geometric positioning problems, but I have only so much time to waste on a program where I cannot even make the XYZ axis orient correctly.

It is embarrassing that a few years the company is working on removing such a trivial problem with refreshing windows with hints.
At the time of writing, the problem is still not resolved.
Moving the bar with icons helps only temporarily.

I spent many years projecting in CorelDRAW and now trying Fusion360 I get a white fever looking for intuitively or logically seemingly simple functions, like resizing a previously made object.
A little more and I will start using another program. The market can not stand emptiness.
