Dimension Help - Changing only one

Good morning everyone.

Attached I have a drawing of a roll former roller. These rollers wear out over time and need to be reconditioned, removing .02 or so each time.

So that means the OD of the roller will change each time this needs to be done. So my question is, is there a way to change only the root diameter (5.82 in this case) and all the dimensions will change with it accordingly? That way I only would have to edit one dimension each time we recondition, instead of going back and changing each one.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I am going to model this very differently... ...back in a bit with my example...

Edit:  Are you really really manufacturing to 4 decimal places?

If so, exactly how are you measuring those dimensions on the real part?

This is my initial sketch (based on your dimensions).

It wasn't clear to me if you want to also take .02 off of the OD, but of course this can be set up parametrically as well...

I am not quite sure how you modeled it, and how this works better to -.02 each time. Please explain? And yes, the entire OD of the roller will change.

This roller can be reconditioned multiple times, the OD will be up to 1" smaller by the time it will be replaced.

So I am looking for the quickest way to -.02 from my drawings each time reconditioning is done.

I have the drawings from our manufacturer with all the original dimensions, we get them made elsewhere. They are all measured to 4 decimal places.

We are getting into reconditioning our rollers ourselves, so I am using Fusion 360 to model all the profiles of our rollers.

1. It is all in the Timeline.

2. Now that I have a better understanding of the Design Intent - I will post a better example, but it could be tomorrow till I get around to it.  Hopefully someone else will jump in here (this will be an easy one to solve).

Given what I see as "strange" dimensions on your sketch that cannot possibly be measured - I am making the assumption that this is a conversion from metric dimensions.

This image shows my "solution" in equivalent inch and mm units.

Any time you need to remove .02in simply double click on the Ø5.8 and -.02in (this is on the diameter, if you need to subtract .02 from the radius, then simply double that number).  This should be self explanatory for each subsequent regrind.

The drawings I go by are all in inches, I can show you what it looks like if you want.

I'll try drawing a roller like that and see how it works. Looks like it'll work for what we want to do. Thanks man!

The dimensions cannot be measured in the real world.

@TheCADWhisperer

A question about the dimension you show as a diameter of 5.827 in the sketch.  How do you make this happen as to me it seems to be just be somewhere in space and it is not on the plane of the sketch?  I am confused!   I am guessing it is simple but it eludes me.  Could you enlighten me.

Thank you

Doug

That"s a Diametre Dimension, at the time you are placing the dimension right click and select the option.

Might help....

Thank You - figured it would be simple.  New mantra - if in doubt RMB

Okay - not so simple for me.  How do I select the circle to dimension when it does not exist?  What am I missing?  I get the RMB but to get the option I need to select an arc.
