Hi I have a problem, I'm making a library of components for which I need to add labels on to them.  I save and export as .step file  ... then I realized when I open the file, the labels are gone... any help on this? How do I save the decals??? Thank you.

I don't see a way of doing this. STEP doesn't interact with decals.

What type of labeling should I use or should I save it as a different file?  Thank you.

If the labels are only text, you could extrude them and integrate them in model geometry. But I don't see a way for pictures without tracing them.

Tracing can be a lot of work and can result in large filesizes.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think I want to extrude them and it's too much work when I can just screenshot for decals.  does f3d file type save these decals?

or maybe one of the others?  igs, sat, smt

not sure which one is the best as I've never worked with these files before. I don't specialize in mechanical engineering.  Thank you so much for the help.

F3d will handle decals.
