Hi @Anonymous,

Are you trying to create a custom profile and sweep it along a helix path (such as a coil)? I did want to note - we also have a built in coil tool under the Create menu. In any case, the screencast below should document what you are looking for. Pretty much, we project the path of the coil and use the Plane along path command from the Construct menu to create the custom shape.

Spiral flat profile spring like that in a tape measure or wind up toy?
Circular "helix" garter spring?

Can you link to image of something similar to your design intent?

Hi @Anonymous,

It is going to be tough to create a coil along a curved axis using the method I posted above. @dinocoglitore came up with a pretty neat API found here. You may want to check that out and see how you can adapt that for your needs. Otherwise, this will need to be very manually created using the techniques that he highlights in his post here.

Thanks,

Hi James.Youmatz, thank you for have mentioned me in your post.

Hi @guptaabinash468, I hope that the link posted by James.Youmatz could be useful for you.

I think that this article is an advanced deepening of a previous article.

I suggest you to read the article posted here. But I thing is more useful for you to read my first article about empirical construction of helix: http://autode.sk/2mp9MLD

You can find an example of application in the Fusion gallery: https://gallery.autodesk.com/fusion360/projects/helix-1

It seems real similar to what are looking for.

Don’t’ forget that the script I wrote was with a didactic point of view.

Thanks

Dino

Hi wtbuser, thanks for the question, but I don't understand your request. All I've done is explained in the articles which references you can find int the post. Can you be more explicit in your question and add some pictures ?
