Custom appearance library issues

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

Using the "Manage Materials" window in the "Visual" tab, I have created a new library using the "Create New Library" button in the bottom left. The button down in the bottom left to create a new appearance says "Creates a new appearance in the favorites" in the tooltip. But how do I create a new appearance just in my library, rather than in the favourites?

After I have created one in favourites, then dragged it into my new library, I want to use it. If I close the "Manage Materials" window and then access the "Appearance" window, my custom library doesn't show up in the list of available libraries, there is only "Fusion 360 Appearance Library" and "Favorites". How do I get my custom appearance library to show up in this list? If I open up "Manage Materials" again, my custom library is still present in the list.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for asking about that.

It sounds like that you try to create a custom appearance within the "Manage Materials" dialog box.

The workflow would be as follows:

  1. Create your custom library and save it
  2. Go to the "Visual" tab
  3. Expand "Fusion 360 Appearance Library"
  4. Select a material group
  5. Right-Click on a material you would like to copy and edit
  6. Select "Add to"
  7. And chose your library instead of Favorites

The first part should be done with this. After doing this you would expect to see your custom library within the drop down selection of the Appearance dialog box.

Currently, this does not appear to be like that in Fusion 360. I will reach out to the development team ask if we might miss something.

Thanks and have a great weekend,

And is there a solution to the 2nd part of this topic already?

I am also not able to get my created library to appear in the pop-up appearance block.
I only see fusion 360 Appearances, My Appearances and Favorites.
