Creating multiple bodies from a sketch and create multiple bodies from one body

I have finished my sketch and now need to change the physical materials and appearance of my 3d model.  I have done an extrusion on a part of the sketches and was able to create 3 new bodies by doing this.  However, other parts of my 3d model are all part of what I'm seeing as 'body 1' and there are still multiple sketches that I can not turn into bodies. When I go to change the physical materials and appearance of a certain sketch the whole body lights up and not the specific sketch. I am new to fusion 360 so sorry for any confusion here.  Attached is a picture of the bowser I am looking at currently.  Thank you.

If you are trying to make an assembly you need to use components, don't make all your sketches and bodies in the main component. Actually don't make any bodies in the main component at all. From your screenshot it looks like you are making a watch, you might want one sketch in the main feature as a reference but that's all. My advice create a new component and create a base part that all the part fit on or into, when that part is finished create new components for each part, keep the components as self contained as possible, try and keep all the sketches for that component in that component.
