Converting a solid to a sheet metal design

I am trying to learn the sheet metal functionality of Fusion 360 and the first project am attempt is an a rectangular to round HVAC transition. I modeled the duct as a solid but when I go to use the convert function it say it doesn't know the thickness, I applied the shell command and got the same response.

Before I spend a lot more time trying to figure this out, I am curious if this type of object is capable of being converted to sheet metal?

There may be different ways to do this but I will show you mine.  The Screencast shows two procedures, the first if you have a Fusion 360 Subscription and the second if you do not.  I assume you only one the bent center piece, the rest are just sheet metal flats.  Model is attached.

John,

I have the free hobbyist version and not a paid subscription.

Thanks for taking your time to create the video.  I am new and will learn from your steps.

Is there a procedure to convert a solid model into sheet parts?  The model I provided had three parts:  1) a 1-1/2" 45 degree angle iron, 2) a 3" x 5" sheet plate and 3) eight 1"x1"x1.3" triangle sheet metal pieces.  Does Fusion 360 have the capability to break a model like mine into 10 pieces to cut with a CNC plasma cutter.

Again Thanks

Fusion 360 does not have a method of breaking up a solid model, with multiple components, into individual sheet metal components.  You will have to convert them individually yourself.  In my video, I did the angle component to demonstrate, you will use the second part of the video where I demonstrated the process for a Personal license.  You can use the same method on the other components but you would save a lot of time just creating sheet metal components directly.

The Personal License, unfortunately, does not allow access to the Arrange command which would make quick work of laying out multiple components on one sheet of material for cutting.

Thanks for telling me about the Arrange Command, which is not available in
the Personal version. That information saved me from trying the figure out
a way to do it. As a retired person and hobbyist, I cannot justify the
subscription cost.
